Cookie Policy

Last updated: July 11, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Jobiko (the "Service"), operated by WTech ("WTech", "we", "us", or "our"), a sole proprietorship (entreprise individuelle) of Abdoul Raouf Wendyam Issoufou Sawadogo, uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies on our website and web application. It describes what these technologies are, the specific ones we use, why we use them, how long they last, and the choices you have to manage or refuse them.

This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.

1. What are cookies and local storage?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) through your web browser. They allow the website to recognize your browser, keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and operate securely.

Local storage (and the related sessionStorage) is a browser feature that lets a web application store small amounts of data on your device, similar to cookies but typically with more capacity and without being automatically sent to our servers with every request.

In this policy, we use the word "cookies" broadly to refer to cookies, local storage, and similar device-based storage technologies, unless we say otherwise. Where the distinction matters for your privacy or for how you control the data, we identify the specific storage type. In particular:

  • A cookie (such as our session authentication cookie) is set with the HttpOnly flag, which means it cannot be read by scripts running in your browser. It is sent to our servers with requests but is not accessible to client-side code.
  • Local storage items (such as your language and theme preferences) can be read and changed by scripts running in the page, are not automatically sent to our servers, and remain on your device until you or the application clear them.

This difference matters: it affects what can access the data and how you can remove it. We note the storage type for each item in Section 2.

We group these technologies into three categories:

  • Essential (strictly necessary): required for the Service to function and to keep your account secure. These cannot be switched off through our consent banner because the Service would not work properly without them.
  • Preference (functional): remember choices you make to improve your experience (for example, your interface language or theme). These are optional and can be declined.
  • Analytics (optional): if enabled, help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. These are optional, are only set with your consent, and are described in Section 5.

We do not use advertising or marketing cookies. See Section 4.

2. Cookies and local storage we use

The table below lists the specific cookies and local storage items used by Jobiko, their purpose, category, where they are stored, and how long they last.

Name Storage type Purpose Category Retention
Session authentication cookie Cookie (HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite) — cannot be read by client-side scripts Keeps you securely signed in to your Jobiko account between page loads and requests; protects your session from being read by client-side scripts. Essential Lasts for the duration of your session and is cleared when the session expires or you sign out. Maximum session lifetime is 60 days, after which you must sign in again.
jobiko_locale Local storage (readable by page scripts; not sent to our servers) Remembers your chosen interface language (for example, English, French, or Spanish) so the Service is shown in your preferred language. Preference Persists until you change your language or clear your browser storage.
Theme preference Local storage (readable by page scripts; not sent to our servers) Remembers your chosen display theme (for example, light or dark mode). Preference Persists until you change your theme or clear your browser storage.
jobiko_cookie_consent Local storage (readable by page scripts; not sent to our servers) Records whether you have responded to our cookie consent banner and what choices you made, so we do not repeatedly ask you and so we honour your selection. Essential Persists on your device until you clear your browser storage or change your choice. If the record is missing or cleared, the banner is shown again on your next visit. We may also re-display the banner when our cookie practices change materially.
PostHog analytics cookies and local storage (for example, ph_*) Cookie and local storage, set by our product-analytics provider PostHog Only set if product analytics is enabled and you have not declined. Used to measure how the Service is used overall (for example, which features are used and how pages perform) so we can improve reliability and usability. Not used for advertising. Analytics Set only after you consent and only when analytics is configured for the Service. If you decline through the consent banner, or if your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, these are not set. See Section 5.

About your language preference (jobiko_locale). This is an optional Preference-category item. Changing your interface language does not require you to re-consent and does not change your cookie consent choices: it simply updates the stored value so the Service displays in your chosen language. You can clear it at any time through your browser storage, and you can decline Preference items through the consent banner (see Section 6); if declined, the Service will fall back to a default language rather than remembering your selection across visits.

We may update the exact technical names, lifetimes, and configuration of these items as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected in this policy (see Section 6).

3. Why we use these technologies

We use cookies and local storage to:

  • Keep you signed in and secure. The session authentication cookie is HttpOnly and Secure, which means it is sent only over encrypted connections and cannot be read by scripts running in your browser. This helps protect your account.
  • Remember your preferences. Your language (jobiko_locale) and theme settings are stored so you do not have to re-select them on every visit.
  • Honour your consent choices. The jobiko_cookie_consent record lets us remember whether you accepted or declined optional cookies.

4. We do NOT use third-party advertising trackers

We want to be direct about this:

  • No advertising cookies. We do not place advertising or marketing cookies on your device.
  • No third-party ad trackers. We do not embed third-party advertising networks, ad pixels, or cross-site tracking trackers that follow you around the web.
  • No selling of cookie data. We do not sell information collected through cookies, and we do not use cookies to build advertising profiles about you.

Jobiko is a paid productivity tool, not an advertising-funded service.

For clarity: We do use a small number of third-party service providers to operate the Service securely and reliably — for example, Stripe for payments and Sentry for error monitoring (see Section 5). These providers are not advertising networks, and we do not use them to build advertising profiles or to track you across other websites. This statement is about advertising and cross-site tracking; it does not mean that no third party ever processes data on our behalf.

5. Analytics and error monitoring

We use a limited amount of aggregated and anonymized analytics to understand how the Service is used overall — for example, which features are popular and how pages perform — so we can improve reliability and usability. This information is aggregated and/or anonymized and is not used to advertise to you or to track you across other websites. We do not embed third-party advertising or marketing analytics, and we do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or to share your activity with advertising networks.

5.1 Product analytics (PostHog)

Where product analytics is enabled for the Service, we use PostHog, a third-party product-analytics provider, to understand how people use Jobiko in the aggregate — for example, which features are used and how pages perform. PostHog may set its own cookies and local storage (for example, items beginning with ph_) on your device to do this.

These analytics cookies are optional and consent-based:

  • They are not set unless product analytics has been configured for the Service.
  • Even when configured, they are not set if you decline optional cookies through our consent banner (see Section 6) or if your browser sends a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal — in those cases analytics does not start.
  • We do not use PostHog for advertising, ad targeting, or cross-site tracking, and we do not sell the information it collects.

You can withdraw consent at any time using the controls in Section 6; doing so stops analytics from running and you can clear any stored analytics items through your browser settings.

5.2 Error monitoring (Sentry)

To detect and fix technical problems, we use Sentry, a third-party error- and performance-monitoring service. When an error occurs in the Service, Sentry receives a diagnostic report (for example, the error message, a stack trace, the type of browser and device, and the page where the error happened).

We have configured Sentry to reduce the personal information contained in these reports:

  • A server-side filter (a beforeSend hook) processes each event before it is sent to Sentry to scrub or redact identifying information — for example, removing access tokens or sensitive values from URLs and request data and limiting the capture of request/response bodies.
  • We aim to send only the technical information needed to diagnose a problem, not your profile data.
  • Despite these controls, error reports are technical artifacts and may occasionally contain limited identifying information (for example, an identifier present in a stack trace). We treat any such information as personal information under our Privacy Policy and apply the same protections to it.

About cookies and Sentry: Sentry's role here is to receive error reports about software faults; it is not an advertising network and is not used to track you across other websites. Specific sampling rates and scrubbing rules are configured in our application and may change as the Service evolves.

5.3 Third-party cookies during payment (Stripe)

We process payments through Stripe. When you start a checkout or manage your subscription, you may be taken to, or shown, a payment page provided by Stripe. On that page, Stripe may set its own cookies and similar technologies on your device — for example, to enable secure payment processing and to help prevent fraud. These cookies are set and controlled by Stripe, not by Jobiko, and are governed by Stripe's own privacy and cookie policies. We do not receive or store your full card details (see our Privacy Policy). We do not control, and this Cookie Policy does not cover, the technologies Stripe places during payment; please refer to Stripe's policies for details on how to manage them.

Note on other technologies in the Jobiko ecosystem: Jobiko also offers a browser extension that captures job postings and helps auto-fill application forms across supported applicant tracking systems (ATS). The extension uses the browser's own extension storage (for example, chrome.storage) to operate, which is separate from website cookies and is covered in our Privacy Policy and any extension-specific disclosures. This Cookie Policy concerns the cookies and local storage used by the Jobiko website and web application.

6. How to manage or refuse cookies

You can control cookies and local storage in two main ways.

6.1 Through our cookie consent banner

When you first visit Jobiko, we present a cookie consent banner. From the banner you can:

  • Accept optional preference cookies, or
  • Decline / reject optional preference cookies.

When your choice is recorded in the jobiko_cookie_consent item, we use it to honour your decision on future visits and to avoid showing the banner repeatedly. If that record is not present or is cleared — for example, because you cleared your browser storage — the banner is shown again so you can make a fresh choice.

You can change your decision at any time by:

  • clearing your browser storage, which removes the saved consent record and causes the banner to appear again on your next visit (see Section 6.2 for how); or
  • contacting us at support@jobiko.org, and we will help you reset your recorded choice. (A dedicated in-app cookie-settings control is planned; until it ships, clearing the stored record is the self-serve way to make a fresh choice.)

Essential cookies cannot be turned off through the banner, because the Service cannot operate securely without them (for example, you could not stay signed in).

6.2 Through your browser settings

Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies and clear local storage. You can usually find these controls in your browser's settings or preferences menu. Common starting points:

  • Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Apple Safari: Settings/Preferences → Privacy
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Please note: if you block or delete the essential session authentication cookie, you may be signed out and unable to use core features of the Service. If you clear your browser storage, your saved language and theme preferences will be reset.

7. Where your data is stored

Information associated with your account is stored on cloud infrastructure located in North America and/or the European Union. For full details on how we handle personal information, international data handling, and your privacy rights in Canada, the United States, and Latin America (including Brazil and Mexico), please see our Privacy Policy.

Future work: Offering the Service in the European Union and United Kingdom will require additional regulatory measures (including GDPR/UK GDPR compliance). EU/UK markets are out of scope for this version of the Cookie Policy, and this document should not be relied upon as evidence of GDPR compliance.

8. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the technologies we use or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to notify you (for example, through the Service or by re-displaying the consent banner). We encourage you to review this page periodically.
