As our checking technician I carry out the final accuracy check on around 4,500 items a week. Our last annual audit recorded a near-miss and error rate of 0.02%. Because I handle routine checking, our pharmacists gained about 10 hours a week for Pharmacy First consultations and New Medicine Service reviews.

I also run our monitored dosage system service for 180 patients, including two care homes. Trays are always ready 48 hours before each cycle, which gives us time to sort out any missing prescriptions with surgeries before they become a problem for residents. I would expect your care home growth to depend on the same discipline. Each cycle I review changes from hospital discharges with the pharmacist before the trays are sealed, and I keep a log of every query raised with the surgeries.
