Mistakes to avoid

  1. Leaving out Safe Pass

    Safe Pass is required on Irish construction sites. Include it, along with its expiry year if asked.

  2. Vague experience

    'Carried out plumbing work' says nothing. Add numbers: systems installed, units completed, calls per year.

  3. Out-of-date gas registration

    Keep your RGII registration current and mention it. Gas work without it is illegal.

Questions

How long should a plumber's CV be in Ireland?
One to two pages. Put qualifications and registrations near the top.
Do I need to be RGII registered?
Only if you do gas work. It is a legal requirement for gas installation and servicing in Ireland, and it makes you more employable.
Is heat pump training worth it?
Yes. Retrofit grants have increased demand, and trained installers are in short supply.
