Dear Mr Fahy,

I saw your advert for a Senior Plumber at Clare Coast Energy Upgrades. Heat pump retrofits have been the main part of my work for the last four years, and I would like to do more of it with a team focused entirely on energy upgrades.

At Corrib Mechanical Services I have installed or commissioned more than 60 air-to-water heat pump systems in older homes. Every one passed its SEAI grant inspection. Retrofits are rarely straightforward, so I spend time on the heat loss survey and radiator sizing before we start, which avoids cold rooms and callbacks later. On older houses I often upgrade pipework and radiators in the same visit, and I explain to the homeowner what they will notice in the first winter.

I lead a team of two plumbers and an apprentice on 30 to 40 jobs a year, and I also ran the plumbing on a 48-unit apartment scheme, delivering first and second fix two weeks ahead of programme. As an RGII registered gas installer I carry out about 250 boiler services a year, so I can also take on the gas work that often comes with a retrofit.

I price and quote smaller jobs directly, and around 40% of my work now comes from repeat customers or their referrals. I think that matters for a company growing in a region where word of mouth carries a long way.

I have 13 years in the trade, a completed SOLAS apprenticeship and a QQI Level 6 craft certificate. I would be glad to meet you on one of your sites.
